"Privatio Boni" (Privation Of The Good), 2024 

"Privatio Boni" is a Latin term that means, "Privation Of The Good." In plain Webster's Dictionary English it means, "The loss or absence of some quality or condition."

The documents strewn across the floor in this composition spell out quite clearly what those "qualities and conditions" are that we are to be deprived of—Row v. Wade, The Affordable Care Act, L.B.G.T.Q rights, Immigration, and a whole litany of other freedoms. Some of those freedoms we've already been stripped of. Those who would deny the American people that which makes us American in the first place—freedoms—hide their true intentions behind a "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) slogan. It's plain to see by following the trail of repealed laws, and enactment of new ones, who these privations affect. It's the marginalized who continue to get the short end of the stick. I guess the old saying, "when people [show] you who they are, you should believe them" rings true in this painting. 

For those of us who made the conscious choice to ignore "the privation of the good"—by voting for Trump—you should now consider the far reaching effects that your choice will have on our sons and daughters.
