Death of Tarzan, Cover, 2021

This is the cover panel for my 6 panel storyboard art piece about the Death of Tarzan. My story is a purge of old racist idealism. I’m taking this battle to the comic book and movie industry. Tarzan is an example of a culture, where most stories consist of villainous and savage African natives. Every Black man in comic strips was portrayed as insanely wild whenever they laid eyes on Jane. It reminded me of the old film “Birth of a Nation.” As a child of color, I always questioned things like, “How come Tarzan didn’t have Black friends? Why was his sidekick a chimpanzee, even though he was raised by gorillas? Where did he find the power to command wild animals to do his bidding?”
