At Empowerment Avenue, we work to help incarcerated writers publish meaningful, high-quality work in mainstream outlets and beyond. Our Editorial Council plays a key role in that effort by partnering with writers, respecting their voice, and helping move stories from draft to publication.

4) A commitment to preserving the voice of incarcerated writers
If you’re a storyteller, editor, or journalist with a commitment to justice, your skills can help incarcerated writers reach the audiences they deserve. This is not ordinary volunteer work. It is a chance to support writers whose words are shaping public understanding, advancing justice, and opening doors that too often stay closed.
