I painted this as a reflection on what it means to wake up. The woman in this piece holds an apple in her hand. For me, that symbolizes knowledge; the kind that opens your eyes and changes you. Gold pours from her eyes because self-awareness always comes at a cost. Her dress features my signature prints: paw prints (embodying the primal, beastlike, or lower instinctual self), hand prints (signifying refinement, man self), and a golden ratio spiral (representing the universe and divine connection/god self). I layered them to show how connected everything is. This piece is about transformation. About how learning the truth about yourself and the world can hurt... and still be the most powerful thing you ever do.
