I usually try to challenge myself. In this painting, I wanted to try illustrating a thunderstorm at night using two light sources—the blue faerie's glowing sword and orange wings. I thought about how objects would take on the color of the light reflected on them. It was a challenge making both the lightning and the sword glow. The glowing glyphs on the sword are Japanese characters for the phrase, "Racism is Wrong". This piece was created during times of anti-Asian cultural unrest we experienced after Covid struck. It reflects a merger of my two styles—Comic art and Magical Realism
